Tammy said there was a bit of chicken odor after opening the bag after resting for a day - she just said it was almost like something died but it was brief. (Glad I'm just learning this...) Do yo think it could have been the liver issue?
The roo was absolutely delicious! Very flavorful & changed her mind about raising meat birds. (again)
So I wonder.... After eating your own meatie, would it be hard to go back to store bought chicken? Kinda like having your own eggs and then having to buy from the store during a massive molt?
Unfortunately I wasn't home for the consumption, I got leftovers. However the wife and son said it was way more flavorful, enough so that Tammy changed her mind (again) about raising more. she said (as I asked her just now) - no problem with buying store bought. We have a roo to process over the break - it's a red broiler - so we'll at least have a comparison. I wish I had a definitive answer about what the other three birds are.
Prolly no more Cornish though...
Both of the Cornish we raised had issues - the pullet with the liver thing and the roo's legs stopped working.
Going to get something that won't self destruct.
