The Oregon Zoo has quit a few of them. They can fly pretty high. You would see them perched on light poles throughout the park to avoid people. I have also seen them at the zoo out west and they were perched up high as well. The blue, green ones are much prettier than the white ones. They are also very noisy. Good luck.

We had a peacock when I was a kid. He just showed up at our house one day and never left. If someone strange came on the property, he would yell 'help!'. He was also fascinated with his reflection in the chrome bumper of our truck and would chase the truck, which was his ultimate demise. He would roost in the Ponderosa Pines on the property, way the heck up there. We found out that he had come from another little community about 5 miles from us. So yes, they are LOUD, they can fly, and they are vain. :lol:

P.S. he also molted about twice a year...completely lost all of his tail. My sister and I would sell the feathers to the campers in the area. :)

Sorry not a Silkie expert, but my regular chickens love the mister. Well at first they hated it, now they love it. I have your eggs. If Denise works tomorrow I can drop them off at the shop. Give me a call or PM and let me know. Sorry to hear about your chicks. I never have checked the chicks for pasty butt, if they are with a broody either. Guess I should??
 
Bootsie, The Marans are starting to lay! First two was light colored, rubbery eggs and broke but the 3rd is kind of ruff and chocolate colored small pullet egg.

WOW that is early!! The wheaten marans thread said not to expect any eggs until 7 months old. Mine aren't laying yet, but the little Marans rooster is chasing them all around. I am going to keep an eye on them.....has to be soon then!!
