Arizona Chickens

Ive got a worm ? here, I'll post it here first and then probably to the other section. I've got a 7 week old chick that keeps stretching here neck and what looks like gasping for air. I was thinking gape worm but can't see anything in her throat or any segments in the poop. Should I? Any ideas?

Not my favorite part of raising chickens. But, yes I can butcher a Roo. Kids usually know it is the thing to do and can accept it. My 4 year old Granddaughter has the same attitude. When she was out here last weekend she told me it was "Testosterone (the extra Cockerel) is fat, time to eat him". It's the grown up extra baggage that makes the job harder than it needs to be.

With all the resp crap around I would run an oxine mister, just in case. Make sure ventilation is good and the shavings are dry also, maybe a little ammonia build up and the chick is really sensitive??

RAIN Tomorrow!! I need to get out and scatter seeds for a chicken salad bar but instead totally being lazy and procrastinating by hanging around here.

I don't understand something! I went through all of Cottons chicks to look for more pasty butt [all clear] and noticed that my silky chicks only have 3 toes! Tumbleweed is the only roo I have and I know he is purebred silky and Cotton is purebred silky. The last clutch had the correct toes so WHAT HAPPENED!

Has anyone been to the Pima County Fair yet? I'm planning on going on Saturday to check on the poultry. Four years living here and this is the first time going.....shame

I went last weekend. Someone had a beautiful Java trio I fell in love with, but I don't know they belonged to. The exhibits were by number, not names. I didn't have time to find out who belonged to that exhibitor number (which I forgot to write down. UGH!) Those birds were supposed to be removed on Sunday evening so you may not find the same birds there this weekend.

If anyone knows who bred the Javas I'd like to get in touch with them. Not quite ready for new birds yet, but those were gorgeous. Maybe they'd sell me some culls later...
