Appenzeller Spithauben - looks like a Dalmatian with a Mohawk

The one on the top left got scalped by a hen a few weeks earlier.

They are my favorites but pretty delicate. All of the birds in the US were derived from a single flock that was imported in the 50's (I think) so inbreeding had reduced their vigor.

I'm pondering contacting the chamber of commerce in Appenzeller Sweden and looking into getting a couple of dozen fertile eggs shipped.

Those are pretty cool looking.

One "Anti-chicken-poop fence"

I made it a bit long and added an extra panel just in case we'd like to move it or use it elsewhere.

The gate is not hinged yet - just propped up.

That's why it looks a bit katty-whompus.

I have to take the bulldozer and remove the hump so it sets flat.

I'm thinking the chickens are not going to like the bulldozer very much.

Chicken dont care how fancy theyre house is as long as you give the space, shelter. food . water, thats all that matters. Its not the size of your castle its the love that fills it.

Hi Kat, I think maybe you should bring that black chick back. Folks are calling it cockerel and so is the silver one. Come to think of it you will not want any of Cottons hatch black ones for they are the ones with missing toes.

I want to get him back soon for I don't want the other chickens to forget who he is and not except him back.
