Anybody want 2 rabbits/bunnies? I believe they're both males. I don't know much about them except for their days are numbered. That number gets smaller with every tree they kill by chewing on the trunk.

LOL!!! I am having the same problem! Only with my ducks!!! They are breaking down fences (literally!) and simply demolishing all of my flowers and gardens!!! GRRRRR!!!! My fences work fine for the chickens, turkeys, and geese...but the ducks? Ha! Who knew?

So sometimes I'm really slow - like now,

But I think I just put 2 & 2 together.

Is is possible that the last few month soft egg shells are the result of accidentally pouring a bag of organic layer starter in

- instead of organic layer mash?

They have had a supply of oyster shells all this time but don't each much any of it.

Can I correct my mistake by adding the oyster shells to their feed?

& if so should there be a specific ratio or just dump and mix?

The beautiful roos I got from AZKat today, whom got them from Mahonri (sp?). They are beautiful!!! And the brown one with a mohawk is a ...yeah I dunno what she is, LOL! But she doesn't make normal chicken sounds, she chitters like a chipmunk....so odd. From top to bottom: Roo 1 (pure blue wheaten ameraucana), Roo 2 (also pure blue wheaten ameraucana), Mary Contrary face shot (dunno what kinda chicken she is), Mary Contrary body shot (she also has slate grey/blue legs). The pics are a bit washed out, the colors on these chicks are much more vibrant. These pics don't really do these beautiful birds much justice.

I've been having consistent egg eater issues, I've caught One dot and Meow both with egg on their beaks.

I've taken ground up egg shells and put it in the feed. I've read that we don't have to put extra calcium in the food that they will eat it as the need it. I've also read that shell-less eggs are common in new layers.

Keep an eye on those egg eaters though, I hear you can have a hard time breaking them of that.

Uh, oh, Mikey. Anyone, please correct me if I am wrong, but here's what I would do. For the egg-eaters: Up their protein, a lot. They MAY be eating their eggs because they need the extra protein.

I had one episode, well actually two, of this. The first was when my broody ate two of her eggs. I gave her mealworms one day, canned salmon the next day, and scrambled egg the third. She never did it again.

Second, my kids fed the hens a raw egg (after I told them NOT to

) It was a good learning experience for them, because the next day there were egg shells in one of the nesting boxes. It hasn't happened since, but I have kept a really deep layer of pine shavings in the boxes. What was happening was that the egg would sometime crack as it dropped from the hen (the hen would scratch all the pine shaving out of the way and lay the egg on the exposed wood). So what I think happened, is that the hen laid her egg, it broke, and there you go.

Good luck, get their diets back on track and go from there. I would definitely offer extra protein and extra calcium.
