How old are they? I think that moving to a new home is pretty stressful for a flock, but I don't have any personal experience with that (all mine were raised as day old chicks or hatched from eggs). Hopefully they'll settle in quickly and start laying for you. You won't believe how awesome the eggs taste.
 
Yes it was a really long day. I had to take my 2 year old to an allergy specialist and it was 2.5 hours one way. then we saw a horrible accident where a 15 year old was thrown from a truck and died. I was done by the time I got home and was barely coherent. my husband wants gambel quail so I thought that I would tryy to find some for him since he is so good about us having a 100 chickens!!

I have been told it can take a couple of weeks. Mahorni gave me some adult hens a couple of years ago, they gave me eggs the first couple of days and then took a 2 month vacation.....but it was in December. The 6 hens I gave my daughter didn't miss a day. That was in April before the temp was this high. Not sure how long any of the other hens we re-homed took.

Mine do slow down when the days are so hot. Yesterday my hens only laid 9 eggs (usually it is around 14).

I have zero experience in this.

What I have read says that re-homing them can be very stressful - they will not lay until they are comfortable.

It is also ridiculously hot outside & they are probably not too happy about that.

Give them treats and time...

Hmmm...in my experience of bringing home laying hens, they never missed a day, but it was cooler when we got ours. Mikey may be right that they are just slowing down due to the heat. I got eggs day I brought them home. That was really good because I like immediate gratification, and my husband needed to see "proof" that all that building was worth it!

Of my last two hens I brought home, one went broody the next day, and now she's a mama. I think I just got lucky. Being a year old, I would assume you should start seeing eggs soon. Are they checking out the nesting boxes? They may be laying elsewhere. Check around, hens are good at hiding their eggs.
