Here are some pics of my BR and BSL. Hope this helps!

all 3 of the above are Rocky. She is a sweetheart.

The above 2 are Link BSL. She is in charge of the flock. She is a great forgager, following us in the garden to get scraps and bugs. Her eggs are proof too. They are large and have the brightest yolks of all the hens.

So maybe just wait and see? How long until I'll know for sure?

How the heck do people get a good ground in our dry, dry soil here? I want to put some electric wire around an existing fence but keep reading how the ground rod needs to be pounded down into permanently moist soil. Pretty much rules that out.

Anyone here have electric fencing????

Let me start by saying I don't have electric fencing. However, the place I get my horse manure has one (run on solar power--up on the far NW side of town) and I can attest to the fact that it indeed works. If my dog could talk, she'd tell you too.

The other thing is when I dig down to about 3-4' in my yard the soil is relatively moist. Maybe drive a rod down 3' and every week or so moisten the soil around it? There's gotta be some other AZers on here with electric fencing. I'll be curious about what you find out.

ENABLER! When are you free? :D

I guess I will just have to dig around where the ground rods would be and check the soil. I also need to get more info on ground wires in between the hot wires. From what I understand you have to be touching the ground and one of the hot wires to get the zap. And if you put wires hooked to your ground rod between the hot wires then there is just that much more of a chance of nothing being able to hop on and climb the fence without getting zapped. I think
