The heat has been rough!!! We need a break! Sorry that so many have taken a hit. I am also sorry that we will no longer hear of "The Trials and Tribilations of Hoppy the Chicken".

We will suffer on, hopefully not too much longer.

Howdy Peeps.

I hope all is well with ya'll.

Things have been pretty hectic around here. Feel like I've been working my butt off & I can't see any progress. Doing a remodel on the rental bathroom so our has has not been touched. School started & while I've got the hang of it (should have after 20 years!) there's still work to be done.

We lost Hoppy two nights ago. We let her live in a tote in the kitchen (or the construction zone that serves as a kitchen) for the last few weeks. I think she just gave up. We are down to 11 chickens now.

The girls are not laying very well either - only getting 4 - 5 a day now. Hopefully it is just the heat.

I bought a bag of cat food (trying for a protein boost) and they turned their beaks up at it (so did the dog ???)

Don't mean to be a downer, chooks are still great! Family is great, life is great. Just a few hiccups...

Healthy day to ya'll!

Mikey
So sorry to hear about Hoppy.

Bulwark Pest Control
I had Bulwark pest control when I was living at our old house (no chickens, just cats). I highly recommend them. They were easy to sign up, dependable, and the best thing? When the economy tanked, we had to choose monthly bills to shed. Extermination became a luxury, one we could not afford. So we called them up to cancel. They were so gracious. They did not hastle us at all. They were quite pleasant (unlike many companies!).

Nova, I've had them since 2007 and really like them. I told them the chickens took care of most of the business in the backyard. They moved me to quarterly service and are going to use poultry farm solutions. They are also going to look into coop mites/lice management for me as well. The man I spoke to has parent that one a poultry farm and understood all of my concerns.
