Maybe!
Mikey if I ever see meow over at my place that will confirm the wormhole idea.
I know I've counted five before bed and the next morning one is outside the locked up coop. Very strange.
I have this nice, young, 4 month old jake turkey for sale. He is a chocolate royal palm.
I putting him on craigslist but if anyone is interested PM me.
Umm, Bobby, I hate to say this but the chickens will only care about your companionship as long as you have food and goodies. Make especially sure you are not wearing sandals if you have run out of treats for them. They will let you know when they are displeased, and it can be a painful message!
Kim, it might depend on if the eggs are for you, for selling as hatching eggs, or for selling to egg-eating customers. Egg-eating customers might prefer larger eggs. In the Heritage Large Fowl thread Bob Blosl just pointed out that his bantams take much less feed, produce just as many eggs and taste just as good as a large fowl chicken. And they win more in shows. He says he gets as much for the eggs (may be hatching eggs) and the started birds as he does for his large fowl. So if you're eating your own eggs you might be just fine with bantams.
I want large fowl because I think a bunch of the large fowl breeds are in trouble, but there are some strong arguments for bantams.

OK,
I bought the dirt, 4 bags at 2.47 each, removed the rocks and spread the dirt out in a corner of the run. They love it. Today, because it was so hot, I turned on the misters again. I went out later to check on them...LOL I had placed the dirt right under the misters which are on the ceiling. Two of my chickens were there covered in mud rolling around in the wet dirt, all muddy, having a grand old time. I couldn't believe it! I placed the dirt in the wrong spot right where it is the wettest. They are too funny! Can you bathe a chicken?
This is also my chicken that just started laying eggs. I walked out to check on them and she was sitting on her nest bright and early. I left and walked back to the house but as I left she started screaming "bock bock bock" at the top of her lungs, she didn't stop screaming and she was really loud. I go rushing back out to the cage thinking there is a problem. I imagined her stuck somewhere in trouble or egg bound. There she is just standing in the middle of the run, not in the nest, just screaming. I couldn't figure out what her problem was so I went to check to see if there was an egg and sure enough in her nest there was an egg. As soon as I picked it up...silence. That was it. She was just letting me know it was there I guess. What a character!
