Any Black Copper Marans people out there? I need a rooster bad, mine was killed by a dog before I could get out there to stop it. I want to hatch babies out this spring but ive had heck of a time finding a mature rooster or even a cockerel. Any help would be very appreciated. Thanks

I've been looking too; the only ones I"ve seen on CL all looked to have major white feather problems. I have ordered hatching eggs from a breeder here on BYC and they should be here this week. Ordered a doz; hoping I"ll at least have a 50% hatch and reasonable specimens of both sexes. Then I'll go from there....

Of course I can't count my chicks before they hatch, especially on shipped eggs, so still looking around myself; certainly wouldn't mind picking up some older stock to start with while waiting for the babies to grow up. But I refuse to buy birds with obvious DQs and major faults. I live in a real small town and see a real need for a serious breeder that can offer quality stock to the 4H kids and other folks that might want to show their birds.
