Hi! I live in Northern Arizona and I am trying my 2nd batch of hatching eggs. My 1st attempt failed miserably. I had kept my humidity 50-55% 1-18. And 67% 18-23.... Everyone was shrink wrapped. I need help. This time I have the humidity at 45% is that too high??
I'm in the white mountains and I don't wanna kill everyone off again

Hi, welcome to BYC!

Sorry to hear about your shrink wrap nightmare.

You say you are in the white mountains, what is your elevation? What kind of eggs are you incubating? Do you go hands off at lock down? Or what is your procedure there?

If they are very dark eggs I go lower. I am shooting for 40% or lower and then raise to 65. Actually did my Marans eggs at 10%, had an acceptable hatch. Maybe just lucky though!

It is a barn yard mix from bantom ee Brahma and more we sit at about 7000 feet this time I have my humidity at 40-45% I am hoping for success this time.
I did go on lockdown day 18 I candled one more time took out the turner and turned up the humidity. Day 21 nothing. 22 nothing. 23...I opened the lid candled saw 2 no longer moving opened them 1 baby was completely formed with the membrane shrunk up wrapped around him separated from the shell. The other baby was VERY behind. A lot of yolk left. I opened the other 2 enough to find the beak. They were breech. 1 far behind the other. The one chick must have been on its last attempt it peeped once and died. :'(

Wow, those are some pretty eggs!

I remember reading things about elevation... and I know it effects how things boil... Check out this link.. I suspect altitude may be part of your issue. But also that huge variety of gorgeous eggs is probably adding to the differences you are describing.

Okay I will do that thank you so much. And you would think they would incubate the same haha. I would like to get it to a high success rate so I can breed a few breeds to sell locally.

Ya, I would have never suspected dehydration to be an issue and even thought "I would go lower"!
