Arkansas Blue egg layers

Pics
I have so

I will probably start with Debi of Ray_n_Debi as I have gotten blue Araucana from her in previous hatches.  She might have a blue or black reject hatch out this spring that would work perfectly for me.  Anyone that breeds Araucana is going to come up with a tailed and/or rumped bird at one time or another.  You have to watch it because you can actually wind up with too short a back which causes lethal issues with waste disposal.
[/quotei I have a pullet that is split to a black ameraucana and a cockerel that is split to the same ameraucana. They both have one copy of the beard, muff gene but when crossed back to a full blooded univ arkansas blue 50% will be clean faced. If you are intetested in eggs from the back cross i will be happy to send you some. The egg color of the ameraucanas is good. The pullet is similar in size to my full blooded arkansas blues but the cockerel is much, much larger...

For anyone that I have on my waiting list for hatching eggs, I may not be able to ship any. We had a big windstorm night before last. When I got home last night I found that it had blown a coop door open which belonged to my Blues. My rooster is injured, and I don't think he is going to make it. My backup blue cockerel has an injured leg which looks like it could prevent him from being able to walk which could impair breeding ability. If I can't find another cockerel locally, I will have to grow out chicks before I have any more available. I immediately went to the coop and grabbed all available eggs and will collect the next few days and set everything that is laid.

Keep your fingers crossed for me. I put a request out on the Facebook group for this breed. Hopefully one of the few breeders locally will have an extra cockerel or rooster.

Wishing you the best of luck to get all those eggs hatched !!!!

I'm so sorry. I hope everything works out.

Thanks, guys. Surely someone around here has an extra cockerel. I sold 3 at an auction in October because I didn't want to feed them through the winter in my rooster pen.
