Arkansas Blue egg layers

But first off - I am terrible spacially - so wrapping the eggs sets me into fits of cursing ... THEN add that to we have a distribution center here which just got all the regional mail diverted to it - in addition to its already full load ... so it all screams disaster for me - personally. :)

My breeders are going back into the main flock in about 2 weeks .... it is very hard to keep them all going, clean, fed, watered :) Plus the horses and the fruit trees plus a normal job. ha ha

If you want to try the very last of the eggs I collect - let me know - but just realize it seems about 1/2 the eggs get scrambled/broke. So just look at the shipping as a lost fee ....

Thanks for the words - muttsfan We seem to have a good core of people working with this breed now, now we need more.

Metella,
Easy tip for shipping without breaking. Go to your local hardware store and buy the foam pipe insulation. Cut it into pieces about an inch larger than the egg on each end. Slice down vertically. Slip egg in, seal each end with paper towels or tissues. It's a little more expensive than bubble wrap, but it stacks easily into the box, offers good protection from breakage and is much quicker and easier. If you are only shipping a few orders, it works great. I don't think I ever got a report of a broken egg while I was using this method. I have had broken ones with every other option I tried.

Edit: Forgot to mention to put some packaging tape across the ends to hold it all together. Duh!

That is a good one!

Take an egg with you to make sure you get the correct size of pipe.

It would be easier & faster unpacking as well.

HOLY COW !!! YOU may have just solved the whole thing ! I can certainly do THAT !!! and that foamy - but still air infused stuff is hard but bouncy - so it may take a bitter licking - as even bubble wrap can be bent in ....

I'm all excited now - this may work !!!!

Yeah - I never even complained about that - but when I have purchased eggs - I often jerk them accidentally when I am trying to get the tape off ! Even when I try to be careful

I can't take credit for the idea, but hopefully it will help you. :)
