Yuck. We got eight older rooster-pecked hens a few months ago and lost one a few weeks ago. Lost another one today. They just kind of go into the coop at night and pass away. I'm thinking we'll lose one more by the end of the summer. She's the first in the coop at night and the last out in the morning and she's just really really quiet. Ah well. At least they spent the last of their lives under a big old maple tree and ate amazing food without having to fight for it.
Bill, our dominant hen seemed upset. It made me sad to see her unhappy.
