Disgusting. I guess I would try to educate someone if I discovered them doing that--starting with the assumption that they just don't know any better and would do better if they knew. Failing that, I'd let them know what the law is (in the U.S. it's illegal to dump unwanted animals of any sort--even wild animals you must have a permit to raise & release--many other countries also have similar laws, so it pays to find out what yours are), and if they still follow through, I'd report them.

If reporting them isn't an option, then I guess you'll be stuck just rescuing as many as you can. People are so stupid. It's a live animal for goodness sake. And she's been doing it for years??!

I know it's too late for these guys, but I would suggest going somewhere where she can't see you and, when she's gone, go and get the ducklings and take them to the humane society with all the info you can give them about the person dumping them.

Go back and see if by miracle they are still alive! You never know. I personally would have waited till she left and then tried to catch them. If no one was around I probably would have punched her.Violence isnt always the answer, but I feel like if she got punched, she might get a clue and look into the fact that what she was doing was wrong. Or maybe just offered her money and say you wanted to buy them. Educate your local feed stores too! The workers at my local feed store cant tell the difference between their a**, and a hole in the ground.

The First thing you do is save the ducks by saying " Can I please have the ducklings? Ive always wanted a few more to go with mine etc. or what WalkerH said if that didnt work Second education. In that exact order always!!! If I was your husband I would have made you leave too. After all everyone what is the PRIMARY mission. SAVE the ducklings. Then go all the other ways.

What a....I would have called her in for animal cruelty. Some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids and teach them the same things. Poor ducklings, somebody should stick her out in the middle of a lake and make her try to survive.

pretty much. I don't feel good about it believe me, I keep kicking myself for not offering to take them.

She didnt leave them, as far as we could tell- my husband did go walk around and look, but he didnt see or hear them.​

I would have called animal control or the police. It doesn't matter what the guy at the store said, you KNOW they were not old enough to fend for themselves. Besides, it is illegal to 'dump' pet animals. I surely wouldn't have left and done nothing.

Oh that is awful, but it sounds like you didn't just walk away, she refused to release them while you were there and walked away with them right? And I'm betting your husband would not have allowed you to follow her home and sit outside her house waiting for her to come back out and try again. I have no idea the way to resolve this if you see it again. Try to take that furious look out your eye, pretend that she has something really unusual breeding wise and offer her ten bucks for them? I'm lucky, my husband is a cop with a badge, I woulda pulled it and removed them from her and maybe encouraged a little police brutality while I was at it. Stupid woman, I agree that she needs to be dumped in the middle of a lake all night. Can you get back to the lake asap? Do you have to work this weekend? Just in the off chance that she went back and dumped them at the same lake and they survived the night? People are such a-holes. I bet she is at home complaining about the 'crazy lady she met at the lake who thinks ducks shouldn't be released into the wild' I just bet it. I bet she is tellin all the people at her church about it today and they are all thinkin she is right. AAAAAARGHHHHH! Thank goodness English people are too lazy to give ducks as Easter presents, because god knows we have our fair share of a-holes.

Plus I agree, call animal control and the police, she has committed a crime, maybe you could give them a description of her and she can do six months in a cell with a big lady called Bubba.
