I think the shading on the face is off though. Maybe try for a mostly solid shadowed skin colour?

I can try. Ive been having trouble with shading faces

My advice would be to keep facial lighting to the forehead, cheeks, nose, and maybe the chin if necessary.

For your picture, I would probably avoid almost all lighting on the face, since it's supposed to give off a gloomy vibe. :3

I think it needs more shadows. Have you tried cell shading?
*Edit* - it also might do better with a dark background

All of that started as cell shading. XD
