TOOTHLESS IS MY FAVORITE
He so sassy! And the shading *-* I miss shading with pencil sometimes. It gives a flair that you can't get with digital. I see you started to do some scales there. He has so freakin' many, you know?
I think maybe you should just take a page and kind of fill it up with Tootless sketches.

Yep I started with the scales. AND YES HE HAS SO MANY! I wanted to draw his full body but I'm afraid I'll ruin it.

That's why you sketch it out on another page. Try it a few different ways before adding it to the head.

I used a special filter on my camera.
Natural light also helps.
Artificial light without filter. (I took this just now.)
