Arthritis

I've read several threads about this topic. I've a 4 year old battery hen who can't seem to walk or stand for very long. She flops down almost upon her food and water and spends all day in a corner looking very sad for herself.

Her whole body appears collapsed particularly her wings. She is eating and drinking but wonder whether she is in pain and whether I can do anything. I wonder whether cooped up in a cage for the first 12 months of her life may have caused this or whether she is nearing the end of her days.

I really don't want to suffer?

Could it be arthritis?

Any suggestions greatfully received.

how long have you had her? and how long has this been going own?

God bless you for rescuing these poor hens.

I've had her about 3 years. She's the last of 4 I took.

She has been like this for a month or so now but gradually getting worse. I just don't like to think of her in pain.

For most breeds, four years is not all that old unless poorly cared for.
