It worked! I was able to post a new reply.

So for any one else who wants to edit an article comment reply, just report the comment, and let a moderator know that you want to delete your reply in the “report reason” section. Then you can post a new reply!

I may be wrong, but the option should be there to delete it ourselves for a certain amount of time, and that's where I believe the PFM comes in.

I have a PFM, but I don’t think there was a delete button, and it was a fairly recent reply.

Oh okay. I hadn't paid attention to the date. That does seem odd then that we can't delete/edit our own comments like we can on posts/replies. Probably for a reason we'll never know.

I've seen a moderator delete a comment though for someone else requesting it when they had suggested changes be made to the article, and after the changes were made, they didn't want their comment there anymore. That's understandable for sure. So guessing these just have to be reported as you said and did!
