Articles

I guess I'm confused what an Article is, I see people posting questions and other stuff and some post informational Articles which seems to make more sense to me.

This gives a brief explanation of threads and articles. If you come across an article that would be better as a thread you can click the report button and a staff member can take a look at moving it to a better section where the poster can get better help with their question ~

How are Forums, Articles, and Reviews different?

With so many options, which medium is appropriate for what type of content? While we believe it's ultimately up to you to decide, here's a bit of guidance.

First, forums, articles, product pages (and reviews of those) are all separate features and different ways you can interact with the site and its members. They are tied together across the site to make related information easier to find, but there are in fact many differences.
Forums
  • ideal place for group interaction
  • here each user can start new threads, respond to existing threads and posts, etc.

  • ask questions to the community
  • post links to interesting articles and start a conversation
Articles
  • articles allow you to author an article on your own to share information to the community and the world

  • "How-to" instructions and guides
  • informational articles
Reviews
  • personal opinions of products AFTER having personal experience with those particular products

  • candid and respectful personal opinions

I was somewhat confused, too.

Here's a great writeup on crop problems and treatment options:

You can post comments, just like in the forums, but you don't generally see a lot of discussion taking place.

Articles are informational presentations, where knowledge is shared based on personal experiences. Forum posts are for free flowing discussions.

The articles get archived as reference material; forum posts are searchable but not archived in the same manner.

I hope that helps! :p

Sometimes, too, members will mistakenly post in the articles section instead of the forum. When that happens, we get them converted to a thread and move them to the forum. If you see anything like that, please report them so the Staff can get them in the best place!

Will Do!

I assume if I do a @DuckLady it rings your bell or is there someone else to ring up?
