do you have a Etsy shopThank you so much! I kind of started making my jewelry by accident. I wanted to have a horsehair bracelet made from our horses' hair for my mom for Christmas one year. I looked and looked, and realized that I couldn't afford any of the ones I liked, so I decided to make my own to give her. It turned out beautifully, and when I shared it on another forum I belong to, I had quite a few people express interest in having me make something for them.
The hair that I use is never taken from an unknown source. My stock hair is hair from my own horses, friends' horses, or customers' horses, if they don't want the leftovers sent back.
I have had a lot of fun through the years making new pieces, and trying new techniques.![]()
@SharW75 - I think an Etsy shop would do wonderful for you. Share it on any horse-related forums, on your website (if you have one) and let your customers past and present know you have an Etsy open so that word of mouth may bring in customers from them too. Have a customization option where folks can send their horse's hair if they like. (Seriously, I wish I would've known something like this was out there years ago and I would've had it made! I think people who are really close to their horses would love this, and honestly a "dropped" card at a horse show might bring some folks too lol!) If you do open an Etsy let us know please (and also post on BackyardHerds as another plus)
what is the name of your website?Thank you so much! I do have a website, and I belong to a couple different horse-related forums where I advertise. I also place my business cards in feed stores and tack shops around the area. Word of mouth has been amazing for me as well! And yes I do take custom orders--actually the majority of my sales come from customers who send me their horses' hair. I have had customers from all over the world!![]()
I really want to set up an Etsy shop, and I've gone so far as to register and all that. All I have left to do is to link my bank account, and start filling the shop. I want to set up a separate bank account for the shop, though, before I start selling. It's just one of those things that I haven't gotten around to doing, but once I do, I'll be sure to post it here, as well as BackyardHerds.![]()
those are beautiful
