Aruacana? or EE?

Thank you - she's subtler than my other chicks but so pretty. I have two Colubmian Wyandottes, two Golden-Laces, and an Austra White and they're all wonderful!

I'm thinking more about the helpful advice you all have given, and I realize that I really don't know the definitions of all the words you've used - i.e muff vs. tuft vs beard, etc. Is there a page with a diagram of all the parts of a chicken used to identify it? I *think* I know what saddle feathers are, for example, but it would be great to have it spelled out!

OK. Look at the post below. See the feathers sticking out of the side of the bird's face? Those are tufts. And notice that the bird seems to have no tail. She's actually missing the last vertebrae. That's rumpless.

Then, look at this bird. This was one of mine (eaten by something, sadly). He was a purebred Ameraucana, but didn't quite meet breed standard. See how he has more than just two sprigs (can't think of a better word, lol) of feathers coming out of his cheeks? Those are muffs. And I'm sure you can see what people mean by "beard." Just like on people.

Finally, saddle feathers. Take a look at my current EE (not Ameraucana) roo. Note some of the differences in body shape with the one above.
Also, he has very prominent saddle feathers and hackles. The hackles are the extra long feathers on his neck, and the saddle feathers are those super
long cream colored feathers hanging to either side just in front of his tail.
.

Hope this helps!
