Asha's Lamb-Along Spring 2026

Okay so we got 3 more bottle lambs last night, a set of triplets, and that puts us at 9. Currently hand-bottling 5/9 which isn't great... so hopefully fixing that today. Got one that nurses the bottle pretty well if I do say so myself and I think I can move it to the machine.

Got a set of twins in, currently avoiding going out there lol

Lost another ewe last night, we put her down so she could finally find some peace. I regret a lot about her case.

Normally we have a few loses, a few culls, and then we replace but this year I worry we will have too many lost to do any culling.

In other news, I'm in desperate need of a nap!

I wouldn't say the last two days have been good to me.

We lost more ewes. And 3 had started to give birth and I just couldn't do anything. Helplessness is probably the worst feeling for those of us with livestock. Commercial or not.

The ewes lambing schedule is erratic. One second I think things are finally ramping up, the next they're doing a whole lot of nothing. We had 10 ewes in a day the other day, and today we have had a grand total of 1. The on-off game really messes with my body. Sleep schedule is in ruins lmao

We got more bottle lambs now. I think we're at 13? Sorta? Maybe? Counting is hard ngl

Waking up is getting progressively harder. Last night (this morning) was particularly rough due to having an allergic reaction to bedding the sheep. I'm allergic to straw dust (who isn't?) and my lungs were definitely begging for reprieve. The night prior had been long and hard so sleep deprivation + allergies (× frustration tears) = Dead On My Feet. Thus, I crashed into bed and woke for nothing.

Honestly there's nothing to do atm. There's only 2 lambs that need hand bottled, everything is fed, and while there are things to do... they don't need done immediately. Plus we're getting a big storm today (hail, thunder and lightning, tornados) so honestly? I'm gonna go take a nap

Slow day yesterday and today, but that nap was so good! Got the bottle lambs graduated to the bigger half, the weaker lambs get the smaller side.
