I have 2 Asian blacks (bought as pullets) they look so different. I can’t find much info on the ‘breed’ so I haven’t seen good pics of hens and Roos. My mostly black, I feel like is a pullet. My red/black is the one I question. (S)he is definitely the Alpha. All the other chickens follow her lead and she is very friendly. Always the first in the coop/run and first out. When given treats, she always shares with the other chickens. I noticed today, her tail feathers are beginning to curve on the ends. Does anyone know if this is a pullet or cockerel? I would think at 10 weeks, I would know for sure, which has me leaning towards pullet.

My cockerels looked nothing like that
Thank you. I had always thought pullet, but recently started questioning it. I guess since I have only girls, I’m not sure what to look for in a male. But, thought I would know for sure by 10 weeks.

For future reference, the males are a totally different color. Black with red leakage on the shoulders, hackle, saddle and back. As young cockerels, they are solid black.

My other Asian is mostly black. Just very little color on the tips of the chest feathers. She is so pretty in the sunlight. Lots of green and purple sheen. Nothing about it screams cockerel though.

If she's got color on her chest, she's a female. The chest of males is a solid black.

Thank you so much for your help. Here are more pics of the other. I’m sure she’s a pullet. She’s a little camera shy and harder to get a picture of.
