Still wonder what the cross is.
I didn't research that far, but you can.

I'm afraid to. There are more breeds I like than not so it would not be good.

I tried, but apparently, they're keeping it a national secret. Anyway, I frankly don't really care much since the hatchery stuff is on my blacklist anyway, especially the johnny-come-lately alphabet soup chickens.

Still a mystery, then. They have to be a hybrid of some sort, not a true breed, but what they created them from, I still haven't found. Oh, well, no matter. I don't buy hatchery stock anyway. In the pictures, to me, the birds look chunkier than the weights suggest.

they are at the tractor supply near me too. i got ine. they are black w some yellow on head n wings. butt fur looks blue. im wondering if these are the birds w the black skin

they are not the black skin chickens!!! just found out

I saw these at the Tractor supply near me and I too wondered what they were. My first impression on checking Hoover's picture and description was - wow! they sound just like my Jersey Giants! After reading the description for McMurray's Black Giants.....they sound an awful lot alike!

We bought 15 asian blues from tsc, the chicks were black and yellow,, but as they started growing some of the chickens turned brown, some are black, all different sizes and only one has a large comb and the others do not, so not sure what they are now lol.

My son and I just got some A.B. chicks from tractor supply, 7 black (some solid black, some have a little white in them) one all white. The white is already towering over the other chicks and his legs and feet are thicker and bigger than the others. I believe this one is a roo. He acts like it. There is another black that may be as well. He's not as big but they have a rivalry between them. Hard to tell and sex the chicks at this point and not sure that tractor supply even has a glue. We got them vary cheep, 2 bucks a head. The only info I could find on them is that their good large brown egg layers and good for meat production. Not interested in the meat, just want the eggs and chicks depending on how they turn out. Note: their skin is definitely black! Most certainly they are a big mystery to us and we are excited to see how they will turn out. Will be more than happy to give you more info on our experience with them as they grow and send pictures when the mature if you'd like.

Sincerely, Godschickenman

Just bought 6 of them from Tractor Supply. This is what I found and the link:

Asian Blue Chickens
The Asian blue Chicken is a relatively new breed, not certified by the APA. Considered a dual purpose breed, the Asian Blue Chicken breed can be raised for meat or egg production. The most striking characteristic of the Asian Blue Chicken is its blue/green iridescent hue layered over black and red feather pattern. Asian Blue Chickens are slower growing than most broiler breeds; males will reach 4-4.45 lbs in 12 weeks, while females reach that weight on average in 15 weeks. Male Asia Blues will reach market weight much sooner and the females will lay a good number large brown eggs annually. These Beautiful birds are relatively new to the market and as such are very rare among chicken owners.

They seem to be very quiet and content. 3 of them are almost solid black and 3 look like penguins! They are beautiful!!
