It isn't a new idea, we have here a turkish pastry called Sambusak that can be filled with a lot of things, cheeas, meat, chickpeas, and .... piza combibation!]
my used to make something very similar we called it a pearog (?) dunno proper spelling it was filled with ham or salt pork with pepper and onion

no, i believe pierogis have potatoes in them, and my grandfather would get WICKED upset when someone tried to say they were pierogis

it is pronounced p-rog

i have no idea, he's gone now so i cant ask him, and probably wouldnt have understood him anyway
