i wish i lived closer to good food, or had time to make it

You really don't need much time to do excellent food! You just have to decide!

decide what, i get home at 730 most nights, and still have to get my family fed and child showered, we usually eat dinner around 930

So?
7:30 home
8:15 good meal
If you prepare the ingredients in time.
This lick potatoes soup
Cut 2 licks (only the withe part )to dice
2-3 potatoes to dice
Fry the lick in some butter add the potatoes steer for 5 minutes add some salt, black pepper and sum nutmeg if you love it.
Add wate/milk cook it till the potatoes are soft, blend it with a stick blender until you get a smooth soup. Add some fresh creem as you like, add some toast bread with 2 sunny side up eggs on and a slice of cheese . Some fruit for dessert
And you have a wonderful meal in 45 minutes.

Some verities that you can add to tge soup
Mushrooms
Diced smoked geese brest, duck brest.
Chopped parsley
.....

I have found that slow cookers and pressure cookers can save the day!

I get home at 10 to 5 and have dinner ready buy 5:30 on most nights...sometimes by 6.

I also make a menu each week and shop off of it. I look at the menu during the week to remind me of what extra prep I need to do--like thaw the chicken or soak the beans.

The crockpot is my best friend this time of year! Unfortunately most days we are gone for well over 12 hours, luckily it has a timer to shut off

Look into pressure cookers--They pay for themselves since it will keep you eating at home and healthier.

I don't understand how a pressure cooker works, so I am a bit incredulous to own one, I also live near Boston so that always comes to mind when I think about a pressure cooker, probably stupid but can't help it
