QUESTION!

I'm about to start a new paint-by-numbers that I thought would be "easier" than the last one. Now that it's here, I want to cry. When you have something with a gagillion little paint sections, how do you prioritize which colors to paint first? The largest sections? The darkest or lightest colors? It's like breaking into an onion here! I don't want to paint myself into a metaphorical corner.

The only way to go with tiny paint sections is, unfortunately, the hard way. Paint al the tiny spaces with arrows pointing to them, first. You'll do a lot of extra brush cleaning, but it'll keep the details true. It also helps to make a paper copy of the unpainted board, so you can refer back to it when you accidentally cover up something important!

I think I did the opposite last time, which made the smaller sections more of a blob than a detailed shape.

And they did include a paper copy of the painting, thank goodness!

1 of 2 ways.

Option 1:

break it into sections (for instance start top right with a chunk and paint in from the edge to the boundary of your "chunk"), then move to another adjacent section.

Option 2.
Start with the lightest color and fill in all the corresponding numbers. Then the next lightest, etc... If you find ones you missed, fill them in as you find them.

Option 3:

Toss that thing in the trash and send a sternly worded letter to whomever designed it about their idiotic torture device.
