I know when people say "asking for a friend" they are usually asking for themselves, but in this case I really am asking for a friend! I have no dog... err... chicken in this fight.

A friend sent me these photos of a roughly 3-month-old Copper Maran that she suspects may be a cockerel. I have my opinion but I am new to this so I am curious what y'all think....

Giant green tail feathers, red face and wattles, possible pointed hackle feathers, I'm thinking possible cockerel. 🤷‍♀️
Closer pictures of the hackle and saddle feathers will help. Hopefully we can figure this out for that friend of yours. :)

The hackles are the thing that's confusing me also. I know this variety can make females appear to have pointed hackles, but these actually look pointed to me, but I'm not sure
Same here. I guess a few other features could point to late blooming male as well. The tail feathers are a bit big but thats not a great clue anyway, or unusual for this breed. That face is quite red though.....

I'm 95% sure I see pointed hackles. Only more pictures will tell.
