I am growing asparagus, and this fall the chickens did not touch them. However, something is eating it this spring.

I am thinking it is something else, since they didn't eat it in the fall, like a rabbit or something.

Any experience?

You know, I am kind of thinking that. Dang, another 4' chicken wire fence to put up.

I like them in the growing places because they eat the bugs.

Hey neighbor! It must be that the asparagus (and chickens, lol) are loving this weather we are having! Supposed to be 78 degrees this weekend.

Gosh, I had no idea.. thought it might be a rabbit or deer. My chickens won't even eat vegetables normally unless I steam them (the veggies, not chickies) and even then they are picky.

LOL, I didn't even notice you were from redding, HA HA! I wonder if the weather will stay 78, last weekend I had all these plans of yard work, and it was gorgous on thursday and friday, then on Saturday it got windy and started raining, I'm so confused, LOL. I should be doing that yard work this weekend, but my eggs are due to hatch on sunday, so I'm not so sure I will be able to get myself to leave the bator.

On a side note, Have you been to the small animal swap meet I keep reading about on the redding craigslist? The one at Epperson's Flea Mart, Fig Tree Lane off of Airport Road. I keep thinking of checking it out, but keep puttin it off because Hubby works on the weekends, and I'm not sure I feel like driving up and back alone. If you've been, is it worth it?

I haven't been to it but a friend got a calf there. She did say some were sick but some were fine so I would say it is worth a try.

Back on topic. I am getting the fencing for my asparagus this weekend.... Pesky chickens!!
