Has anyone used this stuff? If so, how much do I add to my chickens water? It says .30% level in ration. What is that?? I appreciate any help!

Of course, the main question here is why you're intending to treat your all of your "chickens" with aspirin. Unless, you're treating them for shock, or a condition where aspirin may be helpful like gout, there's no need to unnecessarily put it in there water.

I took a look at the manufacturer's product information, and it appears the ingredients are composed of Acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), with apple flavoring and sucrose added to entice the livestock/pets to eat it.

The dose for aspirin recommended in "Blackwells veterinary consult" suggest adding 325mg of aspirin per 250ml of drinking water. Your product contains 227g of aspirin per pound, or ( 22700mg of aspirin per pound). So, that'd mean you'd take 0.325 grams and mix in with 250ml of water. That is likely why the manufacturer didn't give you a clear concise measurement for poultry because the amount is so little, you'll probably need a milligram scale to accurately dose.

Sorry I should’ve gave more details 🤦‍♀️ Well my chicken has water belly. I aspirated it once today and just thought that aspirin might relieve any discomfort. Not sure it was the best idea so I definitely didn’t give it to her. I got a solid 120cc out but stopped so I didn’t put her into shock. The vet that treats our chickens is closed and I think, due to the pandemic, they no longer have emergency hours. Their voicemail said call an emergency vet but that vet doesn’t treat chickens! And tomorrow is a holiday. I’m just trying to keep my girl comfortable until I can get her in. She was breathing better after I did it out but now she’s just sleeping. :/

I am so sorry.
Have you thought about putting her to sleep so she doesn't suffer long?

Yes definitely but I have no idea how. If the vets can’t do it because they’re all closed I dunno what to do 😭😭😭😭😭

So now she’s awake, eating watermelon. I literally tried to find any snacks that contained a lot of water. She’s been drinking when she wakes up. But she’s just posted like a stamp. Do chickens come back from this? I’d hate to have her suffer but I would also hate to put her down if she can be treated.

Very sorry you're having to deal with this. I have no experience dealing with waterbelly in hens, I do believe @Eggcessive has dealt with it before amongst her hens, she may be able to offer advice.

How old is your hen? How long has she been sick? Ascites is a fatal condition. It is seen in heart failure, liver disease, and also seen in reproductive disorders and cancer. My little 9 year old mille fleur hen recently developed ascites. I drained her twice about 5 days apart, but she sadly died about 3 days later.

I do not believe there is any 'coming back from this. It usually never ends good.

How old is she and what exactly do you feed your flock?
