Hi All! I'm a aspiring chicken mama. Working on hubbs to ok our first flock. Though I will be a first time chicken owner (not without countless questions I'm sure!) I am not new to birds ownership and care. We recently lost our beloved Elenora Cockatoo to PTFE poisioning. I am hoping for a flock of 4-6 hens, though I imagine we'll get closer to 8 (chicken math you know..)

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided join to our flock. I'm sorry for the loss of Elenora. It's always sad to lose one of our flock. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Do you have a breed preference?

Hi :welcome

Glad you could join the flock! Sorry to here about the loss of Elenora :hugs
The learning centre is a great place to start for your new chicken journey. Lots of articles on keeping your birds safe from predators, housing, feeding and keeping them healthy. Here is the link https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Wishing you the very best of luck, I am sure you will thoroughly enjoy it. You are so right the chicken math does take over how my flock grew I just don't know!
Enjoy BYC and all the chicken chat :frow

I'm glad you joined us.

I'm sorry that you lost your Cockatoo! I've never kept a caged bird like a Cockatoo before, but have always thought them to be beautiful and intelligent.
