Yes. Membrane is being moistened. Just checked him/her. Still alive. 48+ hours now. Still seeing veins in membrane. Duckling has definitely grown. Even got a scratchy peep.
Ok, look up step by step guide to assisted hatching on this site. And @Lacrystol since its call ducks.
That should get you started. Patience. Deep breaths. You are doing great. Good luck Hope, welcome to byc
I've been doing much research and found great threads here. I'm still looking for working knowledge of how long to absorb the veins.... I've seen some great pics to help... So sit and wait.............Ugh!
As an FYI. What I was hoping were surface level scratches, seem to be through and through cracks.... So pieces of the egg do break off, however, the internal membrane is holding. Keeping is constantly moist is a struggle.
On that article it will tell you a lot more about absorption of veins and time frames. I'll try to link you I always have trouble linking from my phone
peeping more, so that's good! There's enough shell missing that when he moves around, he stretches the membrane... It has a tear right across a vein. Thus far the membrane has torn, but, the vein has not. I'm keeping him wrapped in moist (not sopping) paper towels in a clear plastic container with lid. Numerous air holes. I'm able to maintain about 95° with good humidity. Trying to avoid shrink wrapping.
Thank you for all your help. As Mother Nature always gets her way, Peep is building a new nest and eyeballing Triumphs eggs... (Peep is a renowned egg thief) for my own mental health, I'll post a pic of life...
