Almost day 30. I had to assist a duck's hatch - the egg bruised and then the duck pipped at the bruise, quite a way from the air cell. Bit by bit I opened the egg so it was able to get its beak out and I left the rest as the veins were still red. Well over 24 hours later and after helping a little more when the veins dried, it has manged to get out. Hardly opening it's eyes but flapping around a lot. I've just taken it out to check if the yolk has absorbed and it has, but clearly still attached to the umbilical - any advice? Shall I leave in the incubator? Will it survive?

Leave it in the incubator for another 12 hours at least. Then see if you can get it to take some sips of sugar water.
