I am trying to identify one of the hens we were given. She came from an order of mixed breeds so the giver didn't have any idea what they had gotten. Does anyone have an Asturian Painted Hen and a picture of it? I have seen a few pics and think she could be one, but they are supposed to be so rare and I wouldn't expect to get one from a box of mixed breeds from McMurrays. She is mostly black but with white mottling, she has always been largish and she is quite flighty and has a rapid, nervous sounding call.
    Thanks for any help.

Do you have any pics? What color are her legs? Are they clean or feathered? What kind of comb does she have? What color are her ear lobes? She sounds like she could be an Ancona or Exchequer Leghorn but pics would help us narrow it down.

The Ancona pics look a lot like her. I don't know why I couldn't find this picture anywhere in my searches. Thanks for your help. Do you have any idea what color eggs they lay?

    Anconas should lay white eggs.

Chalky white eggs. Her legs should be light with dark speckles on them.
