I have two Belgian d'Uccles bantam hens and a rooster. I have had them for 7 months and they were at least 14 weeks when I bought them. The hens haven't laid yet and their combs are pinkish/red while the rooster's is bright red. They must be at least 10 months old - does anyone have any suggestions as to why they're not laying yet? I'm getting anxious!

Some breeds and individuals take longer than others, even a year. That is one I'm not really familiar with.

Don't worry! I have 2 Bantams(cochin and silkie) and they both started laying eggs later than most hens. Mine just turned a year old this month and started laying a couple of months ago! Now its one egg a day..skipping one day out of the week :) Just be patient

One of my Silkies was 1 year and 2 weeks old before she laid her first egg. I usually don't have any of them lay before 7 months.

Patience, patience, patience ;)

So glad I found this thread! I've had my bantams almost 06 months and they were sold to me as 'point of lay'. Still no eggs. At least I hope for the future now.

They will lay...give them time

I love my Bantams...they are soooooo lovable!!! We thought my oldest(now a year) was going to lay at all because my silkie was younger and started laying a couple months before our Cochin did. Now she does almost everyday. My Bantams do skip days about once a week, so just know when they do start they may skip. Good Lu
