Today was not a great day! I am a teacher and I found out our school is making a major change which is not good. My wife is a consultant and she was not home today. When I came home I found that I had 2 dead ducks a dead drake and 3 possibly mortally wounded. One of my student's mom is a Vet. She is coming out to see what we can do to help them.

My birds free range in our yard at this time of year. Well our "neighbors a couple of farms away have two big German Shepards that killed one of our barn cats last summer. Now today we came home to find our ducks attacked. Killing my daughter's cat was bad enough but now killing 3, possibly 6 ducks, which provide us with eggs and ducklings for meat.

All 3 ducks are able to walk to varying degrees.

If I see the dogs they will be shot!

My wife plans to watch for them and shoot them as well. They are outside barking at all hours of the night. I had accepted the loss of a cat as we used to have coyotes howling at night and all around. Since this family moved in with their dogs coyotes had not been a problem. Had it gotten My goose as well I would be seeking legal advice. I now will make sure that my birds are only out in the pasture. It also looks like I will be setting all of my duck eggs to hatch some more.

What a day! What does help is that Boris greeted me just like always and that I could get some time with the goslings and 4 ducklings, which are growing like weeds.

So sorry to hear that you have lost some of your ducks due to someones dogs running and going on a killing spree. This is how many of the people out there lose their ducks, geese, ect......
I have a neighbors G.P. coming up here and I have to go out and chase it off from here. I pen out geese until I get home from dialysis. Then let them out to free range during the day. I just hope this one does not start to fool with my sebastopol geese!!!
I was told by the police that if something messes with your livestock and killing them shoot the dog. I said really and he reafirmed me yes.

Good luck at hatching babies.

So sorry :( For the loss of the cat too.
We had taken in a foster dog that did nothing but kill everything he could get near. When he got hold of our family cat and killed him right in front of us despite being whacked with a 2x, that was the last straw. Why people have dogs like that in a farm setting is beyond me.

I had a german shepherd and a small house dog attack mine last tuesday. It was my neighbors dogs. Thank god i didnt lose anything but feathers. The neighbors wont cooperate so i will shoot them next time or trap them with my coyote live trap.

im sorry for your lose i never had this happen before but i don't think i could kill a dog to be honest even if it killed one of my hens or ducks i just love animals but i would trap it and find some way to sort it out but if it kept happening i think i would let loose my dogs after it thats one good thing that i have .. i have 3 dogs so if a dog comes around trying to kill my animals i think i would just let loose my pitbull and husky out after it .... i hate german shepherds well king shepherds they are 2x bigger then the german shepherds i got attacked by one and it ripped a hole in my leg but i was lucky that only a tooth went in my leg and tore out some tissue they asked if i wanted it put down i said no because its not the dogs fault its the way the owners raise the dogs like my pitbull they say their so aggressive and mean and attack things people animals dogs but mine is the biggest baby there is but i would try to talk with the people and if they don't listen things would have to be taken into your own hands and deal with it yourself in some way

I don't know if I would shoot the dog. That was the frustration talking. As a kid I had a donkey that was pregnant when we bought her. Her foal was such a character. When I got married and bought a farm/ farm house I moved the donkey to our farm. Every thing was great until a new neighbor moved in. They put in an underground fence, which never seem to work, and the dogs were out all of the time. Dog poop all over the yard, killed the kittens we had gotten for our kids. Then they began getting out and chasing our donkey. She would get cut up from fences and everything. We tried talking to the people repeatedly. No change. We called authorities. No change. This continue for months. I finally gave the donkey to a friend because I could not protect my donkey from a neighbor's dog.

My dad was a dog trainer. I know dogs are what you invest in them. If you don't invest in them they will turn out rotten. I don't blame the dog, but the owner.

This newer neighbor is actually about a 1/4 of a mile away with fields between us. This guy has made enemies with just about everyone. My grandfather inlaw lives across the road from us and his property butts up to the neighbor. The neighbor drove a truck on my grandfather inlaws property to put up no trespassing signs. This is how he has done everything.

Videoing the dog does nothing. We did that with the other difficult dog neighbor. This did nothing.

Just very irritating.

Pitbulls are like bricks. You can use a brick to break a window or use a brick to build a hospital.
