At what age can baby chicks enter the "main flock"?

As I posted in my recent intro. of myself, we recently hatched new babies. We have 7 week old baby chicks. They are housed in a "nursery" area near our main chicken house with a chicken wire fence to separate them from the current adult flock. the mother is with the babies and they have an igloo dog house for a "chicken house" Our adult chickens are free range in our yard which is about 1/2 acre. They put themselves up at night. The adult flock can see the new babies through the chicken wire, but do not have access to them. At what age can we safely introduce the new babies to the adult flock (9 hens (counting the hen who hatched these babies and 1 rooster)? Thank you.

When they are close to the same size - they may need to defend themselves against the big ones. Hopefully not, but I've heard of issues adding babes too young.

Wait until they are the same size. Introducing smaller, less wiley individuals into an established flock is asking for bloodshed.
