I found out recently that two out four of my bantam phoenix pullets are not what was sold to me. Turns out that I have a pair of bb OEG . I have a phoenix cockerel that is roughly the same age as the BB but the phoenix LOOKS like a rooster. The BB (cockerel) looks like a pullet still. Question is, if in fact the BB is a rooster, when will the rooster colors and such come in? Heres a pic of the phoenix and the BB for comparison. First pic, the phoenix in middle BB "rooster" on the left BB hen on right. Second pic is the "BB"

the BB red on the left in the second photo is a cockerel. cockerels in this color veriety get patchy feathering compared to pullets at this age. look at how consistent the coloration is on the pullet compared to him.no chance of a pullet. he will be a very handsome guy though :) . and also i agree with jaeG about male specific feathering

Thanks for the reply. What is this color variety called? Sense I didn't anticipate on getting these I'm really curious as to what to expect. On a side note, I never would had thought that watching a handful of chickens would be so,,,,,,,,,,, satisfying.
