At what age do roos begin crowing and turn hormonal and mean?

I know, that's what I am concerned about! I've read plenty of stories on BYC! I was mainly trying to figure out if all roos will end up that way, or if they are still tame at 15 weeks they'll stay this tame...

I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

My roos tend to get hormonal and annoying when they are 4.5 to 5 months. In fact, I have 10 roos going to the butcher tommorrow because they are overwhelming the poor hens and its time for them to go.

Boy, I guess I have been lucky for about 15 years, that's the last time I had a mean roo. Silkie roos really get mean? cochins? The last mean one I had was a golden laced polish. I've got five angels now, frizzle, bantam cochin, spanish cross, polish cross, langshan, all wonderful!

My Roo was about 12 weeks old when he started to crow. I think each bird is different and no telling when they will start.

My roo (Lt. Brahma) has been the biggest sweetheart until 2 weeks ago. He is now 9 months old and he decided to flog my husband. I couldn't (and didn't) believe it so I went out to the coop and he came right at me. He wrapped himself around my leg and I flung him across the coop. I went back out a couple of hours later, he did it again and again I flung him across the coop, he came at me several more times and I booted him to the other side. The next day, I walked in the coop to gather eggs, he looked at me, started to puff up, decided he'd better not and walked away. I haven't had any trouble with for the past week, however, my husband and daughter no longer want to go near him! I think he just needed to see who was boss and I let him know it was me. I will give it another week and see if I can pick him up and pet him like I used to. If not, I'll just had to deal with it, and as long as he's not attacking me, he can stay!
