At what age do they start roosting?

Mine are 14 weeks old and have no problem getting up on the roosts but at night when they go into their coop they huddle together in the corner. In the morning when I go to open the pop door and let them out in the run some of them are up on the roosts but I am pretty sure that none of them sleep their yet. They still go into rugby scrum.

DH said when he opened it up this am 2 were up there but I'm sure they didn't sleep up there. They were really eyeballing him too. Like 'what the heck are YOU looking at'.

I wonder if this has to do with the head chicken. Stevie, our golden polish is BCOC (big chicken on campus) and we are not even sure she/he is a roo yet, (I'll say "he" to keep it simple), along with Amy (or Amos) the one in the pic I posted, have always slept roosting. Before I moved them out to the coop, they were sleeping on the edge of the brooder. And everyone followed suit.

This picture is really dark - taken the second night, and they are all up in the roost. Believe it or not, there are 22 chickens scrunched up there! They all perked up when they heard me stand on the pop door stand and look in the window.
