at what age do you deworm you peachicks

at what age should you start thinking about deworming my peachicks an how often when i looked it up most say to do it in march an sept.but dont know at what age to start.

Some worm them before they put them on the ground others wait, when I put ours in the grow out pens (about 5 to 6 months old) we put Safe Guard for goats in there water I use 3cc to a gallon of water this will be there first worming (October) then around Mid February to the first of March we catch all our birds, chickens, peafowl, we give each bird a shot of Ivomec Plus 1/4cc to 1/2cc for smaller birds and 1/2cc to 3/4cc for the large birds and one month later we put Safe Guard in there water. then in October the cycle starts all over again.

Now some states may have to worm more then two times a year.

Now this works for us and it may not work for you. It just seems what ever I do it is wrong, but I have gotten help from some of the bigger named breeders so if I am wrong they are too I guess.

thanks that is pretty much what i found in my reserch but i trust the people on here an wanted to know what you guys do.we have pretty good winters here does that affect the worming?

I worm them with safe guard also, start mine soon after I place them on the ground 3 months of age. Like Steve said 3 cc per gal of water. The ivomec pour on the peachicks get their first treatment in the fall. 1/2 cc on the back base of the neck. The adult get wormed 3 times a year, early spring before breeding season, end of July after breeding season. Then just before winter Oct. same dose on the safe guard. The ivomec I use 1cc per adult, reason higher dose on the ivomec , as i place it on the back, so with the feather soak some , that way I make sure to get the 1/4 & 1/2 they need on the skin.

DON'T use both at the same time.....

Can't you just give the ivermectin orally? That way you have a better confidence in dosing? Orally, I've given .25mL per peahen/cock (Dose 1ml/100 pounds in livestock) , and have had no problems. I'm new to peafowl- when I brought some adults home, they got a dose orally of Ivermectin before being turned loose into their pen. At what age should I start Panacure on the peachicks? I haven't given the peachicks any dewormer yet- my oldest is 7 weeks old. Just to refresh my memory- 3ml Panacure per gallon of water for 3 days? Thanks for the info...

Most people do not use liquid Ivomectrian orally on the peafowl or chickens. From what I have been told it is absorbed too quickly that way into their system and can cause internal damage to organs over time. Now in paste form some do use it, but it is harder to dose paste correctly for that small of an animal, but I have in the past used it. Cattle pour on is a little easier because it is absorbed more slowly into the skin and then through their system. i normally start my peachicks shortly after being on the ground with a dose of Safeguard, about 5-6 months old also.

sorry, just want to clarify what you mean by "cc".... I am going to deworm our new 1 year old peacocks and want to make sure I do this right. Can someone list a step by step for me here? We just got 2 1 year old peacocks and they haven't ever been dewormed.
