Most people start once half of them start laying. Or, you could feed an all flock feed and have oyster shells on the side.

Good thread! So how would you tackle when you have a mixed flock say of older laying hens and younger pullets who still or should be still eating starter feed?

Right now my younger girls are isolated in a seperate run adjacent to the main run so food is separated but when I integrate them I might have a problem.

I also was wondering there is a scratch block that has oyster shells, scratch grains and a few other things at what age could I feed them that?

Also the layer feed that I would get says to start a Sole ration at 16 weeks of age

Waiting for half to lay is better, nut once you have one egg the others will be along shortly. I think an all flock with oyster shell is a better overall option.
