At what age should I.....

I have yet another newbie question. At what age do I need to introduce my chickens to a roost? They will be getting here Wendesday and this is my first batch. I want to do atleast one thing right, so does anyone have any ideas?

I gave my chicks a roost from day 1. Just a branch tenoned into a couple 2x4's that was about 2 inches off the ground. As they got older they would get a bigger branch that was higher off the ground every few weeks. They all didn't sleep on a roost until they were about 7 weeks old.
