At what age to ducks start mate?

Mating (at least mallards) is about 4 to 5 months old. You will see head bobbing, the female laying parallel to the water with her head and neck streached out to invite the male.

I have some ducks that I have hatched and grown from chicks and they normally start mating around the 6 month mark.

I have a drake who's about five months old and a female who's over a year she's been laying for awhile. Question is I just put them together for fertile eggs and nothing no egg and no signs of mating. Are they behind my back maybe? Or is he still to young?

hes of age when ducks start to breed but some arent as bold and dont get their hormones until later
