At what age do peacocks start growing the bright blues on the breast and head?

Thank you for your reply. When I raised cockatiels and needed to know sex asap I'd pluck a single tail feather. If the feather grew back (week or two) solid color on the bottom it was a male-if striped, a female.

Would this also work on a peacocks breast? If a couple breast feathers were plucked would they come in blue; if male?

No, not really. Would two plucked feathers come in blue. I certainly would not pluck any bird naked unless it were dead and to be eaten.
