At what point do I declare this Turkey egg dead, and open it?

I’ve had a Turkey egg in the incubator for around 28 days. It’s from my broody that gave up, and was developing fine. There were originally 2 (I gave the rest to my friend, but her incubator was full so I was going to give her these when they hatched.) but the other died about a week ago, and smelled awful when I opened it.

This one internally pipped 48+ hours ago. I made it a safety hole yesterday, and I can’t hear anything when I put my ear up to it. There’s also no movement whatsoever. I honestly think it died right after internally pipping.

It’s just been kind of a blob on the side of the egg that is on the incubator floor. But I’m also worried it is still somehow alive, and causing its death by opening it. (Although, the worst that could happen is it getting shrinkwrapped because I’d just be opening the aircell part.)

Should I open it? All the other eggs my friend has have hatched now, and they started incubating on the same day. If it is dead, I’d love to know what went wrong, and opening it sooner than later would be better for that.

Open it carefully, there will be movement and chirping if it is alive. Sounds like it’s a goner though.

He was a goner, and malpositioned. Poor little guy. RIP

Atleast it was just a bronze, by the looks of it, and not a variety I’d keep.

Wasn’t even internally pipped, just pushed mostly into the aircell.
