female dogs can also have false pregnancies so it's not nessarily a sign that she is indeed pregnant.
they can even go so far as to start nesting and trying to nurse and mother toys (when there are no pups)
they may decide they have "5" pups being 5 toys and protect those things as thought they are live babies.
about 3-4 weeks later, all this stops and hopefully you have your dog back to normal.
