I was just wondering what the temp. should be vs. age of broilers before you can place them out in a pen during the day. My broilers are 1 week now, and this is my first time with broilers, so I'm a little shady in the outdoor/forage area. I have them in a brooder now indoors. Thanks for any help!!

They really don't forage that great, but I let mine range where they wanted at 3 weeks old and it was about 40-45ish during the day. However, they did have the option, and did go back to their heated coop when they got cold. All my chicks are brooded out doors.

At three weeks, they can pretty well regulate their body temps, so they can be in the cold. I keep a heat lamp in the pen with mine until it's really warm out- and my pen is big enough that they can pick the temp they want.
