i think thats what was possibly wrong with my chicks ? :(

I hatch all winter. It takes a lot of extra care to keep the chicks warm and dry even when using broody hens. Yes,chickens can be inbred.

Chickens can hatch in the winter, but they have to be kept warm and at the right temperature ( Best if left inside with the heat lamp ) . Chickens can be inbred as well, just not after a LONG period of time. After awile, they start getting deformities and what not.

I've let hens hatch eggs and raise chicks in winter and we haven't had any problems. As long as the hens have a warm, dry place to sleep and raise her babies she'll be fine.
Chickens can be inbred, yes. But don't do it too intensively and for too many generations. It will be good to get a new rooster in for breeding now and then.
